New Delhi: The future will belong to a region that combines intelligence with inclusiveness, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Friday, asserting that Maharashtra is at the forefront of this century’s disruption and must not only retain its status as India’s largest economy but also become a global platform for growth. If the country under the Prime Minister is shaping global change by moving from incremental reforms to structural transformation, Maharashtra, India’s largest state economy worth $578 billion, has entered this period from a strong position, he said. “In this century of change, nations compete and nations execute. In this emerging global order, local economies will determine competitiveness.” Fadnavis said Maharashtra has the capacity to become a leading destination for modern business activities as it accounts for 14 per cent of India’s GDP, has the highest share of foreign direct investment inflows, has exports of USD 67 billion and has 9 million micro, small and medium enterprises driving employment and entrepreneurship.
