It was previously reported that the surviving child was a 13-year-old boy. However, Bordelon corrected the message Monday afternoon.

“He had some injuries, some broken bones, but we do expect him to recover,” Bordelon told KSLA. “We’re very grateful that he was able to escape.”

He further said the suspects initially started killing children on the first floor while others tried to escape through a second-floor window that led to the garage roof.
