Longmont Martin Fire: Fire breaks out at East 1st and Martin streets; horrific visuals in Colorado

Longmont Public Safety also released statement about the Martin Fire, and wrote: “Longmont Fire is responding to a grass fire east of the recycling center. The center is located at East 1st and Martin streets. Firefighters are on the way. Please do not call 9-1-1.”

Martin Farr: Terrifying visual effects emerge

The photos show smoke visible from a distance and capture the ongoing fire from different angles.

“There is a fire behind the Longmont Recycling Plant near First and Martin streets. It’s windy right now and they are working to put it out before it gets out of control. There are brand new apartments in the back. I’m not sure what started the fire. But there are a lot of homeless people in the area,” the local news outlet wrote. Facebook.

Follow-up posts on the same page suggested the fire may have been contained. “Wow, here’s a close-up photo of some fires I just took in Longmont, Colorado. It looks like they’ve got the fires under control, but quite a bit of open land is burned. Like I said, the winds are picking up and they’re working hard to make sure they’re completely out so the fires don’t start again,” the page states.

People also shared the video. “I think the recycling center where all the branches were thrown down is on fire! Near Martin,” one wrote.

Video showed thick smoke visible from a distance. Another person shared a set of visuals and wrote “It was an eventful afternoon! Thanks to the Longmont Fire Department for putting it out before it spread to businesses and our apartment complex!”.

Some people also reacted to news of the Longmont fire. “Husband just got home via Martin and said it looked more like the city’s recycling center was on fire. Said the flames were very high and smelly,” one commented. Another added, “Praying for the safety of you Longmont Public Safety Department, recycling fires are no joke, be careful with any hazardous materials. Unfortunately Earth Day is right around the corner.”

Another said: “Just wondering what the smoke is that I’m seeing coming out of Loveland right now…”.
