New Delhi: Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K. Admiral Tripathi said the Navy’s actions during the operation had boosted national confidence and demonstrated its capabilities at the highest level. Talking about his interaction with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said: “In addition to Operation Sindoor and the continuous operational tempo throughout the year, we are extremely proud to have conducted a historic 17-hour overnight embarkation with the Indian Navy on the West Coast to demonstrate to the Honorable Prime Minister the breadth and depth of our operational capabilities.”Operation Sindoor was launched after the Pahalgam terror attack in April 2025 that killed 26 people. The operation targeted and destroyed terrorist bases in Pakistan, killing several terrorists.

Naval officers honored for Operation Sindoor

The Chief of Naval Staff on Wednesday also awarded the Yudh Seva Medal to Vice Admiral AN Pramod and Vice Admiral Rahul Vilas Gokhale for their role in Operation Sindoor.Lieutenant General Pramod was commended for planning and executing India’s response amid tensions with Pakistan. His deployment in the North Arabian Sea deprived the Pakistan Navy of operational space.

Vice Admiral Gokhale was commended for ensuring the missile readiness and combat deployment of 22 warships within 96 hours, helping to limit Pakistan Navy operations.Captain Suraj Rebeira, Captain Vikas Garg, Captain Piyush Katiyar, Commander Rajeshwar Sharma, Commander Vivek Kuriakose, Commander Kapil Kumar, Lieutenant Rishabh Purbia and Chief Mechanical Engineer Manoj Kumar were also awarded the Nao Sena Medal (Gallantry) for their contribution in the operation.
