If the housekeeper His name entered the record books on Saturday as he became the first wicketkeeper-batsman in history to reach 4,000 runs in T20 Internationals and the fastest batsman as well. The England star achieved the milestone with just 2,670 deliveries, surpassing the previous one by Rohit Sharma. The milestone was achieved during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Group C match between England and Scotland in 2026 in Kolkata. Buttler, who needed just three runs to reach the target while chasing 153, reached 4,000 off the fourth ball of the second over. The occasion held a double significance as it also marked his 150th T20I appearance for England, making him the only English player and one of only five players in the world to have played 150 or more matches in the tournament. However, his stay was short-lived. Shortly after reaching that milestone, Butler took a catch from Brad Curry’s Brandon McMullen and was sacked on three-for-four possessions.Buttler is the fourth cricketer to cross the 4,000-run mark in T20Is, joining Virat KohliRohit Sharma & Babar Azam. His score included 28 fifties and a highest score of 101. Notably, he remains the only designated wicketkeeper to cross 4,000 runs in T20I history.A former England captain, Buttler is firmly at the top of the country’s run-scoring charts in T20Is, well ahead of Eoin Morgan, who has amassed 2,458 runs in 115 games. Buttler is widely regarded as one of England’s finest white-ball players and a valuable asset to T20 leagues around the world.
