“The Vikings are mourning the loss of Ring of Honor safety Joey Browner,” the team wrote. “Bronner was a six-time Pro Bowler, a four-time first-team All-Pro selection, a member of the NFL’s All-Decade Team of the 1980s, and was named to the 2010 list of the 50 Greatest Vikings.”

Joey Brower is a native of Warren, Ohio. He played college football at the University of Southern California (USC) before joining the Minnesota Vikings in the 1983 NFL Draft. He played for the Vikings for nine seasons until 1991. He played one more year with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before announcing his retirement.
He was a standout member of Tampa Bay for much of the 1980s. His peak years came between 1985 and 1990, when he was selected to six consecutive Pro Bowls.
After retiring, he maintained a private life and stayed away from the NFL to focus on young football players, coaching at the high school level and mentoring young athletes. However, he remained a member of the Vikings community until the end and was inducted into the team’s Ring of Honor in 2013.
