Thiruvananthapuram: Jewelery worth over Rs 2 crore was allegedly stolen from the Kowdiar Palace, the official residence of the Travancore royal family. Based on a complaint lodged by senior family member Asw-athi Thirunal Gowri Lakshmi Bai, the Peruvada police registered a case of theft. The decorations were reportedly stored in an iron cabinet in the complainant’s bedroom and were suspected to have been stolen between October and November 2025. The family initially thought the jewelry had been misplaced. These include a gold chain studded with orange coral beads and gold pearls, an anklet with a ‘pichipoo mottu’ design, and an anklet studded with black and gold beads. Police suspect the theft was carried out by someone familiar with the palace. They say footage from inside has surfaced on social media suggesting outsiders may have entered the premises.
