Jeff Bezos calls for zero income tax on bottom half of U.S. income earners, says it would change millions of lives

Jeff Bezos said Wednesday that low-income Americans should be exempted from paying federal income taxes, saying the move would ease financial stress on millions of families and help foster the country’s entrepreneurial spirit.

Bezos said eliminating taxes on the bottom 50 percent would be low-cost but would have a “meaningful” impact on Americans. (Bloomberg)

Critics, however, question whether the idea addresses broader concerns about wealth inequality and corporate taxes.
