The milestone also saw Bumrah surpass the Sri Lankan greats Lasith Malinga Became the most successful pacer in the history of T20 World Cup. Bumrah now has 40 wickets in 26 matches, surpassing Malinga’s total of 38 wickets in 31 matches. Abhishek Sharma’s 52 off 21 balls set the tone, followed by a brilliant innings from Sanju Samson (89) which laid the foundation for the attack. Samson forged important partnerships, including a century stand with Ishan Kishan, who smashed 54 off 25 deliveries. After Bumrah and Axar Patel were dismissed early, New Zealand never recovered as they chased an impressive 256. Patel grabbed three wickets and Bumrah cracked through the middle order as New Zealand fell to 72/5. Tim Seifert’s 52 briefly revived hopes, but the chase soon collapsed under relentless pressure.New Zealand were bowled out for 159, giving India a historic win.For Bumrah, the game capped off another remarkable season. He became the joint-highest wicket-taker with 14 scalps, equal to Varun Chakravarthy, and underlined once again why he remains one of the most feared bowlers in world cricket.
