Jaishankar to Iranian Foreign Minister: Support efforts to stop war

New Delhi: External Affairs Minister talks about importance of efforts to restore stability and security in West Asia region Sujashankar The Indian President, in a conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, stressed India’s support for ongoing regional and international efforts to stop the war, according to an Iranian release on Monday.Apart from Araghchi, Jaishankar also spoke to his counterparts in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates on Sunday.According to Iran, Araghchi spoke of the “heinous crimes” committed by the U.S. and Israeli aggressors against the Iranian people, including attacks on Iran’s industrial and production infrastructure, as well as its “peaceful and protected nuclear facilities, as well as continued public threats by U.S. officials to attack Iran’s energy infrastructure.” He also reminded the international community and the United Nations of their responsibility to combat “the normalization of violations and war crimes.”Qatar also released the transcript of a conversation between its Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani and Jaishankar, in which they reviewed the military escalation and its serious impact on regional and international security and stability.The Qatari minister stressed the need to stop Iran’s “unjustifiable attacks” on Qatar and other countries and warned against irresponsible targeting of critical infrastructure, especially related to water and energy facilities.He also emphasized the need to strengthen coordination, increase joint efforts, return to the negotiating table, and use reason and wisdom to contain the crisis and ensure global energy security.
