New Delhi: Captain India Harmanpreet Kaur Admitted that Amanjot Kaur’s injury has posed a big problem for England’s squad ahead of the Women’s T20 World Cup, but she remains hopeful that the substitutes will be able to make an impact when needed.Seam bowling all-rounder Amanjot is out for four to five months due to a back injury, after he also missed India’s recent T20I series in South Africa. Harmanpreet made it clear how important Amanjot is to the team.“Armanjot is a key player for us. Unfortunately, she cannot play the game. She will be away from cricket for the next four to five months,” Harmanpreet said.“It would be difficult to find someone like her to replace her.”India has now turned to Bharti Fulmali and Radha Yadav To strengthen the team strength. Bharti has retained his place after limited opportunities in South Africa, while veteran spinner Radha returns to the T20Is after a strong showing at home.
Radha’s comeback also comes in the wake of injuries to Amanjot and Kashvi Gautam, who will undergo knee surgeries. Harmanpreet said the team management is trying to create the best possible balance with the existing players.“But, we are still working on it – Bharti, whatever opportunity she gets, she will try to prove herself. We have brought Radha back into the team as she is also an all-round athlete who can contribute with bat, ball and on the field,” the skipper added.“So, Amanjot’s replacement will be difficult to find. But right now, like any available player, we are trying to balance the team with them so that whenever we need someone, they are ready for us.”The skipper also defended the bowling attack after the recent series defeat in South Africa, saying a bad series should not define the team.“This is the only series where our bowling wasn’t too successful… I can’t judge my players in a series,” she explained.Harmanpreet added that the upcoming training camp and England series will help India regain momentum ahead of the World Cup. She also praised Bharti Fulmali and uncapped pacer Nandni Sharma for grabbing opportunities with strong performances domestically and in the WPL.
