Iran war aftermath: CBSE cancels class 12 board exams in seven Middle Eastern countries

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Sunday canceled the Class 12 board examinations for students from several Middle Eastern countries.In a notification, CBSE informed affiliated schools in Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE that the exams will not be conducted.“For students from Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, the 12th class examinations scheduled to be held from March 16, 2026 to April 10, 2026 will be cancelled,” the notification read.The board said the decision was taken after reviewing the situation and taking into account the views of schools and authorities in the affected countries. “The feasibility of conducting board examinations for Class XII was further reviewed based on inputs and requests from schools and authorities in the affected countries,” the statement said.Exams that had been postponed previously were also cancelled. “The examinations which were earlier postponed as per notifications dated March 1, 2026, March 3, 2026, March 5, 2026, March 7, 2026 and March 9, 2026, will also be cancelled,” the board said.The board added that the mode of declaration of results for Class XII candidates from these countries will be notified in due course.On March 1, CBSE postponed the Class 10 and 12 board exams scheduled to be held on March 2 in seven states following a security review. Subsequently, exams originally scheduled for March 5 and March 6 were also postponed until further notice.
