Abbas Araghchi said in an interview with Al Jazeera that assassinating key figures would not weaken the foundations of the Islamic Republic.
“I don’t know why Americans and Israelis still don’t understand this,” Araghchi said, referring to the United States and Israel. “The Islamic Republic of Iran has a strong political structure with established political, economic and social institutions.”
He emphasized that while individual leaders play an important role, the design of the system itself transcends any single figure. “The presence or absence of a single individual does not affect this structure,” he said, adding that Iran’s governance model is based on entrenched institutions rather than individuals.
Araghchi acknowledged the influence of figures like Larijani but insisted their losses would not undermine the country’s operations or strategic direction. “Individuals have influence, everyone plays their role – some are better, some are worse – but the important thing is that Iran’s political system is a very solid structure,” he added.
