IPL 2026: Nitish Rana punished for ‘audible obscenity’ after umpire argument

However, the request was rejected by the fourth umpire, leaving the Delhi camp visibly frustrated.Nitish Rana Stepped in to question the decision and had a lengthy discussion with the referee. Rana felt that playing with wet gloves could affect performance and safety, especially in the high-pressure moments of the game, and the situation heightened the tension that had already built up in the final overs, where Delhi needed a strong finish to stay in the game. Shortly after the request was denied, Stubbs’ innings came to an abrupt end. While trying to clear the infield, he missed Jamie Overton’s shot, only for it to be caught by Noor Ahmad at midfield. Visibly frustrated, Stubbs walked back to the pavilion and threw away his bat and glove in disappointment, marking the dramatic end to his fight.

Rana punished for breach of code of conduct

Following the incident, Rana was fined 25% of the match fee and deducted one point for breaching Level 1 of the IPL Code of Conduct. The offense falls under Article 2.3, which relates to the use of audible obscenity during competition. The violation occurred when he got into an argument with the fourth umpire in the 19th inning.Rana admitted his crime and accepted the penalty from the match referee, and the incident ended there.

Ruturaj Gaikwad fined for being slow

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain Ruturaj Gaikwad was fined Rs 12 lakh after the match against Delhi Capitals (DC) on April 11, 2026. The penalty was imposed as CSK maintained a slow overrate in the IPL 2026 match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. This marks the first time this season that the team has breached the IPL Code of Conduct regarding minimum overage requirements
