Instagram down: Thousands report messaging issues during widespread outage; ‘cooked’

Instagram works by allowing people to interact on public posts, including likes, comments, and shares. However, many people prefer personal interactions through direct messaging or private messages.

As a result, the outage caused many people to complain on social media.

Many others have commented on the DownDetector page itself. Most people complain about the messaging feature on Instagram. Someone asked “Is the message displayed with delay???”. Another person expressed frustration, saying “And it’s just that DMS isn’t for me…”. Many also lamented that their conversations were cut off due to the power outage. “Instagram is down in 3 different conversations,” one user complained. Another noted that “messages cannot be replied to.”

Others quipped that the app’s glitch gave individuals a much-needed break from conversation. “Thank God, when my friends started questioning me, Instagram went down.” explain.

However, these claims are unconfirmed and the official cause of the outage is unclear.

The Mark Zuckerberg-owned platform has yet to issue a statement addressing the issue.

As people wait for clarification on the matter, many flocked to posts on the Instagram X feed in an attempt to draw attention to the matter. One user said: “My Instagram says it can’t load previous messages but my internet is fine, please fix your app.”
