‘Injured but in good spirits’: Army shares latest on ‘brave dog Tyson’ who ‘received first bullet’ India News

New Delhi: Tyson, a four-legged Army hero who was shot in the leg during Operation ‘Trashi-I’ in Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir, is “recovering well”. The Army said on Tuesday that he was “injured but in good spirits” and showed courage while leading a team into a terrorist hideout.Showing true Indian spirit, the German shepherd dog serving in the Army played a key role in neutralizing the operations of Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) commander Saifullah and his two associates at a mud hut hideout (dhok) at the foothills of Pathkoot hill in Chatro district on Sunday.“During the recent Operation Trashi-I in Kishtwar, assault dog ‘Tyson’ showed extraordinary courage and stopped the first bullet while leading a team into a terrorist hideout. Undeterred by his injuries, he continued to charge forward, forcing the terrorists to open fire, thereby confirming their presence. ” the Army White Knights posted on X.The Army added that Tyson’s fearlessness enabled the White Knights, police and Central Reserve Police Force to target and neutralize the three Pakistan-backed terrorists with precision.“While injured, Tyson is spirited, alert and recovering well, and he exemplifies unwavering devotion to duty – a true warrior and a true warrior,” the Army said, adding, “The pursuit continues – and those who seek to disturb the peace will find no refuge.”The K9 trooper was evacuated by helicopter and taken to a veterinary hospital after suffering an injury to one of his front legs, officials said.Lieutenant General PK Mishra, commander of the White Knight Corps, visited Tyson at the veterinary facility and checked his health condition, they added.The Corps Commander interacted with the veterinary team present at the scene and gave instructions to ensure best possible care and commended the role of the canine unit in anti-terror operations.
