Indian-origin techie says ‘networking’ helped his laid-off mother find job through a LinkedIn message

The mother of an Indian-origin tech executive suddenly lost her job, but made a quick comeback after a message on LinkedIn helped her land a new position within days.Ashalesh Tilawat, who lives in Austin, Texas, recently shared this experience on X. His post described how his mother, who had just been laid off three days earlier, quickly found a new job opportunity through his “connections.”Tirawat said the transformation has been quick. After sending a message on LinkedIn, his mother was able to reach the right contact. An interview was scheduled the next day, and soon she received a job offer.“1 LinkedIn message. Interview the next day. Offer the day after tomorrow. Your network is everything,” he wrote on X.The story went viral, especially as layoffs continue to affect workers across industries, including at companies like Amazon and Oracle, which have laid off thousands of employees, often without prior notice. The rise of the artificial intelligence era is also reshaping the employment landscape and changing the way companies hire and manage employees.
