New Delhi: An Indian Air Force Su-30MKI jet crashed in Assam, two pilots were seriously injured and killed Karbi Anglong area during training missions. “The IAF acknowledges the death of Lieutenant Anuj Anuj and Lieutenant Purvesh Dulagkar in the Su-30 crash. The Indian Air Force said that at this sad moment, all the personnel of the Indian Air Force express their sincere condolences and stand firmly with the family of the deceased. Previously, the Indian Air Force had stated that a Su-30MKI that was performing a training mission crashed in the Karbi Anglong area, about 60 kilometers away from Jorhat. The aircraft lost radar contact after taking off from Jorhat, officials added. The Su-30MKI is a two-seat, multi-role, long-range fighter aircraft developed by Russian aircraft manufacturer Sukhoi and currently manufactured for the Indian Air Force under license by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). The force has a fleet of more than 260 Su-30MKIs. Locals reported hearing a loud explosion and were seen using torches and lights to aid the search, news agency ANI reported. The crash site is about 60 kilometers from Jorhat. “We heard a loud bang and an explosion. Police from Chowki Wala police station have arrived and they are searching from the helicopter. There is no trace of the pilot yet; nothing has been found so far,” a local resident told ANI.
