New Delhi: Zimbabwe head coach Justin Sammons expects a fierce counterattack from India when the two sides meet in the crucial Super Eight clash of the T20 World Cup in Chennai on Thursday, warning that his players must be ready for a similar onslaught that defeated them on Monday.Push boundaries with our YouTube channel. The heavy loss exposed Zimbabwe’s tactical flaws but Sammons believes the painful experience could prove valuable as they prepare to face an Indian side injured by their loss to South Africa.
“We know the way India are going to approach it, it’s going to be very similar to the way West Indies approached their innings. They (India) will not back down,” Sammons said after the match. His warning came as the Indian team arrived at the Chidambaram Stadium under pressure and desperate to stay alive in the tournament. Zimbabwe, despite being labeled losers, are still determined to challenge one of the tournament favorites. He added: “We will learn good lessons from this and how we deal with it, how we stay calm under the pressure of the moment, think quickly and try to change things a little bit and disrupt the rhythm of the batsmen.”

Do you think India will attack Zimbabwe’s bowlers from the first ball?
Sammons admitted that Zimbabwe’s bowlers were too predictable against the West Indies and they must urgently fix that flaw against the explosive batting line-up led by India. Suryakumar Yadav.“…We can be a little smarter in that regard. Chennai will be a little bit bigger (ground) and probably a little more relaxed in that regard,” he said.Conditions in Chennai could play a decisive role. Traditionally, resurfacing has been known to help slower bowlers, but in this tournament, the resurface performed differently, offering better pace and bounce. This may challenge Zimbabwe’s pace specialists, e.g. Sikandar Raza Blessing Muzarabani, they thrive on slow tracks.
