New Delhi: As the fastest-growing economy, India is “well positioned” in a highly fragmented geopolitical world and its scale, stability and technological ambitions can help shape the next global order, S4 Capital Chairman Martin Sorrell said on Friday.“So there are two reasons why India is leading the way. In this fragmented world, choosing to grow is really important. India is growing. The second thing is because growth is going to be more modest because inflation is harder to deal with than people think (we are seeing this with central banks as well) and therefore interest rates are going to be higher than what we are used to…” He said applying artificial intelligence and blockchain has become important. What’s amazing is that we’re going to see computational changes and capacity changes not only from AI, but also from implementation and quantum. India has a huge role to play, he added. Asked how India should be positioned, he said: “India is well-positioned. It has leadership, its strategy is not just around manufacturing but also around technology, and it has the structure to get the job done. India was the fastest growing country last year. It will be the fastest growing country this year. This will be the fastest growing year next year. Prime Minister Modi has done an outstanding job leading and representing Brand India. The Prime Minister should be the Chief Brand Officer. “Commenting on the increasingly volatile situation reshaping advertising and media strategies, Sorrell said, “The economy is so volatile that[long-term strategies]are under attack. Artificial intelligence is driving this trend… We are seeing a huge focus on short-term brand performance, activation, performance and promotion.” With the exception of the two verticals of automotive and financial services, large-scale adoption of artificial intelligence has not yet occurred because of economic pressures from outside, he said. “In financial services, fintech platforms are disrupting traditional services.”
