‘I want my marriage’: Wife says she’s deeply hurt after husband Graham Plattner’s sexting with other women revealed

Graham Plattner’s wife says she feels betrayed by the man who exposed her husband’s sexting scandal.

Maine Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner has broken his silence on the sexting scandal and criticized The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times for publishing gossipy reports. However, the gossip was allegedly provided by her wife Amy Gartner, who has now said it is shameful for the media to spread gossip. “No marriage is perfect, and I don’t want a perfect marriage. I want mine,” she said.Plattner is seeking the Democratic nomination to face Republican Sen. Susan Collins in one of Maine’s most closely watched Senate races, which has a June 9 primary.

What was Plattner’s sexting scandal?

Plattner’s wife, Gertner, told the campaign last August that she saw sexually explicit text messages on her husband’s phone early in their marriage, the Wall Street Journal reported. The New York Times also published a report on the text messages on Saturday, saying former aide Genevieve McDonald was one of the campaign staffers who confirmed the messages at the time.Gertner said what she shared with a campaign aide was personal and that she felt hurt by being betrayed by her former campaign aide.“It’s not surprising to me that the establishment media is just spreading gossip rather than trying to talk about what’s really important in this campaign, which is the material reality that Meiners is dealing with,” said Plattner, who tried to blame his personal missteps on coverage by The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal.Plattner said his marriage was very loving and happy, and the media didn’t report that. “We talked about what we had gone through in Amy and I’s marriage over the years. We talked about it because that was our marriage, and we discussed it with the campaign,” Plattner said.Plattner, an oyster farmer and military veteran, was rarely far from controversy. Last year, reports surfaced that Plattner had a tattoo on his chest that resembled the death head symbol used by the Nazi SS. Plattner said he contracted the virus during a drunken night in Croatia in 2007 and was unaware at the time that it had Nazi links. He said he later painted a “Celtic knot with some images of dogs on it”.
