‘I know my H-1B rules’: Indian tech workers engage in viral battle with Texas whistleblower over food truck jobs

A feud between an Indian technician and a Texas journalist went viral, with Sara Gonzales accusing him of abusing his H-1B status by “working” in his alleged wife’s food truck.

Texas journalist Sara Gonzales, who gained fame for claiming to have uncovered H-1B fraud in her state, went to interview an Indian technician and said she received information that the man was running a food truck business despite having H-1B status. Gonzalez said this is a classic H-1B-H4 scam, where the H-1B comes to the U.S. and brings a dependent and then runs a business in the dependent’s name. Gonzalez said Naveen Tummala’s H-1B was sponsored by Flexera Global Inc., but he claimed to be the owner of the “Golcona Xpress” food truck, which has multiple locations in the DFW area. Gonzalez said she received information that the man worked in the food truck all day and in Instagram videos he called himself “chef” and posted videos of himself cooking. A video of the confrontation went viral, and Naveen said he was neither the owner nor the chef of the food truck. After finishing his office work at four o’clock, he went to the food truck to install the printer. The conversation turned heated when Gonzalez asked the man why his wife, who he claimed was the truck owner, was at home while he was working at the truck. The man said he didn’t work there and was there to fix something. “I just saw you take someone’s order,” Gonzalez said when asking him about the social media post. Navin said he knew the recipe but not the chef of the food truck and that he only helped his wife with the business. “I’m off work. I can’t help my wife, or what? Do you think I’m going to get paid for this? I know my rules. I know my rights,” Navin retorted. “Do you think business owners are always focused on the business they own?” Navin added when pressed to explain his wife’s absence. The Indians then demanded that Gonzalez apologize for trespassing on his property and threatening him. “You can do whatever you want. You think that’s American. You do the same thing for everybody. Go check your backyard,” Navin said. Gonzalez said she couldn’t understand his English. “You don’t even let him talk and you yell at him!?!? How do you report it honestly!?!? What scam are you talking about!?!? H4 can do business. Husband helps her wife!?!? Which is a scam!?! Why don’t you look into Spain in Texas? ! ! ? Didn’t they do anything to harass legal people or the visa process? ” said one social media user.
