KOLKATA: “Chun-chun ke hisab liya jayega (One by one, everyone will be held accountable),” Prime Minister Narendra Modi said at a rally at the BJP Tourist Grounds on Saturday, calling for “changes” in state secretariat Nabana in the upcoming polls. He spoke about the key themes of the PPP, “demographic changes, women’s insecurity and the violence and corruption of Nirma Sarkar (cruel government)”.PM Modi says creators of Bengal’s ‘Mahal Jungle Raj’ will pay pricePrime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech set the template for the party’s poll campaign in the state, where he hopes to show off a stunning electoral victory since 2014. Saturday’s rally is also likely to be the last by the BJP’s biggest vote-gatherer before the Election Commission is likely to announce the polling schedule next week. “Those who brought jungle jungle to Bengal have started counting down. Those who flout the law and torture people will not be spared. We will make them pay for their crimes. The PPP, if elected, will bring development. Sabka hisab liya jayega (We will hold everyone accountable),” he said in his 49-minute speech. “Intimidation and threats have become the weapons of the TMC. It is running with the help of goons,” he said. “This Nimam Sarkar will not be able to stop the change this time. The BJP has the blessings of Mahishashurmardini (Durga),” he added, mentioning several icons of Bengal including Rishi Bankim Chandra, Rabindranath Tagore, Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and Swami Vivekananda Vivekananda) to undercut the Trinamool’s description of the BJP as an “outsider party” in Bengal. Prime Minister Modi then focused on what he described as “the demographic changes taking place in Bengal” and the Trinamool’s role in it. “Bengal’s roti, beti and mati (bread, daughter and soil) are now under threat. Their lands are being looted by infiltrators. The state’s demographics have changed, making Bengal unsafe. Bengali Hindus are becoming a minority,” he said. “Criminals are getting away with it. Children as young as seven and eight and tribal women are being raped and Nimam Sarkar is protecting the rapists. It is this mentality that has led to the highest number of acid attacks in Bengal,” PM Modi claimed, adding that the BJP would make Bengal safer for women. “This is Prime Minister Modi’s assurance.” Prime Minister Modi then used the national government’s recent exchanges with President Drupadi Murmu to question Tenamore’s “attitude towards tribals”. “Dalits are the most deceived people in the state. The national government was responsible for the mismanagement of President Murmu’s visit to Bengal a few days ago. Trinamul will never accept a tribal woman in such a high position,” he claimed, adding: “Murmu is known for her simplicity and she expressed her anguish. This is an insult to thousands of Dalit women and the Indian Constitution. Bangladesh will give a befitting reply. Murmu earlier this week criticized the treatment she received at an event in Siliguri, prompting Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to accuse the BJP of using the president’s office for political activities. Prime Minister Modi also referred to Banerjee’s recent remarks on community. “People were threatened. It was said that members of a particular community would kill them. “How can someone who holds a constitutional stand make such comments?” he asked, citing the Trinamool’s objection to the electoral roll SIR as another example of its “vote bank politics”. He also slammed the TMC for trying to prevent people from attending his rallies. “Those who participated in this rally were reviled as ‘thieves’. But the people of Bangladesh know who the real thief is. This Nimam Sarkar stopped vehicles and blocked bridges, but could not stop the flood of people.” This group reflects the mood of Bengal. ” Prime Minister Modi accused the TMC of blocking several central schemes and being “anti-development”. “This government has cursed the youth through immigration. The youth of Bengal are talented and hard-working but are forced to go to other states for work. Development takes a back seat. Investments stop and industries close. Job opportunities here are sold. Providing employment opportunities to the youth of Bengal is PM Modi’s pledge,” he added. Ahead of the rally, Prime Minister Modi launched infrastructure projects worth Rs 18,680 crore.
