Public U.S. government database shows which companies employ workers H-1B visa Staff are offline, important search tools and recent data are lost. The H-1B Employer Data Center is operated by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and is used to analyze companies participating in the visa program. The site previously allowed users to search for H-1B applicants by fiscal year, employer name, location and industry classification code. It also provides an interactive map showing the concentration of H-1B employers across the United States. These search features are now unavailable, and the map interface has disappeared. Additionally, downloadable data sets are missing for fiscal years 2024, 2025, and 2026. The pages that once served these files are now marked as “Archived Content,” although they also show a “Last Reviewed/Updated” date of 07/01/2025. It’s unclear when the documents were archived and whether this was related to a technical issue.
“We are aware that our various USCIS employer data centers are currently experiencing technical difficulties. Our teams are actively working to resolve the issue. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience while we work to restore normal service,” a USCIS spokesperson told The Dallas Express-News via email. The H-1B Employer Data Center was launched to improve public access to H-1B program information. In a 2019 announcement, USCIS said the center will allow the public to “search for H-1B applicants by fiscal year (dating back to FY 2009), NAICS code, employer name, city, state or zip code,” allowing users to calculate approval and denial rates and determine which employers are using the visa program.USCIS said at the time that the center aimed to expand transparency into employment-based visa programs. In 2019, the agency posted on Facebook: “We launched the H-1B Employer Data Center to provide you with information about employers who are applying for H-1B workers. This data center is part of our ongoing efforts to increase transparency in the employment visa program. “The center’s demise comes after The Dallas Express reported on which companies in Texas employ the most H-1B workers. These reports analyze the concentration of the H-1B workforce in major cities and identify the employers with the highest number of visa applications. The H-1B program allows U.S. employers to temporarily hire highly skilled foreign workers in positions such as technology and defense. Most of the visa schemes are used by Indians and Chinese.
