‘Go back to India’ ‘Fuck Nazis’: Melbourne dad finds racist note while cleaning car; says there is no justification for such attack

An Indian man in Melbourne reported racist, hateful notes were scattered across his Epping home’s front yard while he was cleaning his car. The notes read “Go back to India” and “Death to the Nazis”. The unnamed man posted photos of the racist comments on a local Facebook community page to warn others that racism and hatred have no place in the community. “I really don’t see the point of it,” the man, who asked not to be identified for his safety, told news.com.au. “There is no reason for this to happen.”The man said he moved to Australia more than a decade ago and had a newborn, a young child and elderly family members living with him. The incident shocked them as they did not understand whether the notes were targeted or if there was any reason behind the attack. “We didn’t go out for our usual walk that night,” he said. “I don’t feel safe leaving my kids at home.”News reports said social media posts revealed multiple similar incidents. One commenter, claiming to be a council worker, said they found a similar note saying “dirty people” written on the same size paper in a public garden bed near the nearby Civic Centre.“I did not post this to gain sympathy,” the man later wrote. “My only intention is to make our community aware that these types of incidents are happening so we can remain vigilant and look out for each other.”

The only Indian family in the neighborhood

The man was concerned that those who left the note knew he was Indian, and there was only one Indian family in the neighborhood. “It’s something that gets stuck in your mind,” he said. “I’ve been restless all night. The first thing I do now is check outside to make sure nothing else is going on,” he said. The incident was reported to police, but they said there was nothing they could do as there was no property damage. The man said he called another police station, which said it would take the matter seriously.
