captain of gujarat titans Shubman Gill admits he could have introduced Prasidh Krishna Kings XI Punjab took the ball early on Tuesday after chasing down the target and winning by three wickets in their first IPL match.“I could have brought Prasidh in earlier but we were in the game till the end and there were always ifs and buts. But he came at the right time and took wickets and kept us in the game till the end of the 17th and 18th over,” Gill said after the match.Cooper Connolly, who made his debut for Kings XI Punjab, scored 72 runs off 44 balls to help his side reach 163 with five balls to spare. Rashid Khan later sacked Prabhu Simran, who was caught for a long time.Shreyas Iyer hit two sixes off Ashok Kumar but was quickly run out, sending Prasidh Krishna’s ball to Washington Sundar at deep mid-wicket.Sundar also cleared Nehal Wadhera while Krishna took the wicket of Shashank Singh and Marcus Stonis Quick succession brought the Gujarat Titans back into the game.Krishna started the attack in the 13th over when Punjab needed 53 runs off 48 balls and dismissed Iyer’s first delivery.Despite the wicket, Connolly held on till the end, hitting five sixes and five fours to take Kings XI Punjab home.“I thought we played well and we didn’t make progress in the last five or six overs (with the bat), which was not 200 wickets but if we had 175 wickets, it would be different, but we kept losing wickets and we couldn’t keep going in the last five overs,” Gill added.
