New Delhi: Congress MP Jyotimani on Tuesday slammed Karur BJP district president VV Senthil Nathan for his remarks against her, saying he considered her “like a woman, like a body, like a sex object.”” The Karur town police have registered a case against Senthil Nathan for his remarks, which were allegedly made by the women’s wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party during a protest held in front of the main post office in Karur on February 10.The demonstration, organized to denounce what party leaders called unfair treatment of women under the “lawless DMK regime”, was attended by BJP state secretary Amar Prasad Reddy, former MP Karvendhan and more than 300 party workers.According to the police, ANI quoted the police as saying, “District Collector Nathan allegedly made indecent and derogatory remarks against Karur MP Jyoti Mani during his speech, which was allegedly insulting to women and intended to disturb public peace.”Karur town police have registered a case against BJP district president Senthir Nathan under five sections of the law based on a complaint lodged by Karur district panchayat president Ramesh, police said.Stating that Senthil Nathan’s remarks reflected what the BJP and the RSS had taught him, Jothimani said, “These are very disgusting and obscene remarks made against me. This is the worst form of abuse. No woman should have to go through something like this. I am shocked.”“According to this man’s worldview, my knowledge, merit, hard work, commitment and ideology were nothing. I was just a woman, a body, a sex object. That’s what the RSS and the BJP taught him.” His remarks reflected the party’s ideology and thought process. This has been used as a weapon against all those women who are brave enough to speak their mind, speak their truth to power, and refuse to remain silent,” she added.Congress MP Manikam Tagore also issued a statement on X, condemning these remarks and demanding action against the BJP officials. “This is not an isolated outburst – it reflects the toxic mentality of the RSS-BJP which normalizes misogyny and personal attacks on women in public life. When party workers repeatedly use this language – from the national president yesterday to the ‘New India’ regional president today – Prime Minister @Narendra Modi’s silence speaks volumes.”
