Failure to pay tolls through FASTag at accessible plazas will result in suspension of services until the fees are cleared

NEW DELHI: Failure to pay toll through FASTag at accessible toll plazas on the National Highways (NH) network will not only result in the issuance of e-notices but also suspension of all FASTag services for the vehicle until the e-notice charges are outstanding, the government’s FAQ on the new toll system said. The road transport ministry’s NH toll notification said this will be done as per the National Electronic Toll Collection (NETC) FASTag planning process. Services will be suspended at all FASTag facilities, including NH toll plaza, state toll plaza and parking plaza. An NHAI official said this would happen even if FASTag is included in the hotlist for any reason. Therefore, NHAI urges highway users to maintain adequate balance in their FASTag accounts. In the event of insufficient FASTag balance, invalid or unusable FASTag, the user will be notified electronically and will be required to pay the normal user charges within 72 hours. If there is still non-compliance after 72 hours, user charges will be increased to twice the rate for that vehicle category. If electronic notification remains unpaid for more than 15 days, Vahan related services (NOC, title transfer, state license and fitness certificate) will be restricted until the outstanding fees are cleared.
