Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Meerut Metro and Namoobarat Regional Rapid Transit System in Meerut, marking the remainder of India’s first Namoobarat RRTS and the fastest metro in the country. The 82-km-long Delhi-Meerut corridor, which includes portions of Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, connects major urban centers like Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Modi Nagar and Meerut, reducing travel time to less than an hour. Eight suspects with alleged links to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence Agency and Bangladeshi extremist groups were arrested in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal after an intelligence alert warned of a possible terror plot targeting Delhi’s Red Fort and famous temples. Delhi Police said that in follow-up operations, six suspects were detained at various locations in Tamil Nadu and two suspects were detained in West Bengal, and dozens of mobile phones and SIM cards were seized for analysis. Investigators believe the group communicated through social media, posting content in support of Pakistani groups, and that the four had earlier traveled to Delhi to put up “Free Kashmir” posters at a metro station during an international summit before returning to Tamil Nadu and West Bengal.
