According to Commission sources, the EC will visit Assam from February 16 to 18 to begin its visit to the poll-bound states to assess poll preparations.Sources told TOI that CEC Gyanesh Kumar and ECs SS Sandhu and Vivek Joshi are likely to visit Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in the last week of this month. Tours to Bengal and Kerala are likely to take place in March only; dates have not been finalized yet.Four states and the Union Assembly of Puducherry will go to assembly polls in April-May. An announcement is likely to be made in the second half of March.During the visit, the EC will hold discussions with political party netas, chief secretaries and DGPs, district magistrates and senior officials of law enforcement agencies.
