Board Chairman August Pfluger said in a statement that he supported the idea of ​​appointing Erica months ago and praised Donald Trump’s decision.

“Erica is the right person to fill Charlie’s position on the Board of Trustees and continue his work of inspiring the next generation of service members and advancing the Academy,” Pfluger said. “I look forward to working with her and continuing Charlie’s legacy.”

Erica’s appointment comes nearly a year after President Trump first appointed her late husband to the board of directors in March 2025. Charlie Kirk attended the college’s first meeting on August 7, just weeks before he was assassinated on September 10 at Utah Valley University.

After his death, Erica took over leadership of Turning Point USA, the conservative organization he co-founded.

Erica Kirk’s Educational Background

Erika Kirk, 36, attended Notre Dame Preparatory High School, a private Catholic school in Scottsdale, Arizona, graduating in 2007.

She later attended Regis University in Denver. After her sophomore year, she returned to the Phoenix area and completed her undergraduate studies at Arizona State University, earning a degree in political science and international relations.

She also holds a degree in American Legal Studies from Liberty University. According to her website, she is also pursuing a doctorate in biblical studies.

Careers and charity work

In 2012, Erica was crowned Miss Arizona and married Charlie Kirk in 2021. The couple has two children, a one-year-old son and a daughter who will turn three this August.

Before becoming the director of Turning Point USA, Erica was involved in several philanthropic projects. At 19, she and her mother founded a nonprofit called Everyday Heroes Like You. The organization provides toys, books and games to children in hospitals.

In 2017, she also co-founded the AZ Foothills Charitable Foundation with AZ Foothills Magazine Publisher and CEO Michael Dee. The foundation is reportedly now inactive.

Erika later focused on her company Proclaim365, a clothing and lifestyle brand associated with the Biblein365 ministry. The brand sells items such as baby blankets, bags, T-shirts and homewares printed with Bible verses.
