Democratic congressman Eric Swalwell Publicly responded to allegations that he sexually assaulted multiple women, including a specific allegation of rape.
One former staffer alleged that Swalwell raped her while she was drunk in 2024, while three other women recounted different instances of sexual misconduct that included unsolicited explicit messages and unwanted advances.
Reports by CNN and the San Francisco Chronicle corroborated key aspects of the women’s testimonies, such as text messages and discussions with friends and family.
The reaction at the highest levels was immediate and violent. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries called the allegations “incredible” and called for an investigation, insisting Swalwell should terminate his campaign.
“This is unacceptable for anyone — certainly not elected officials — to take seriously. We applaud the brave women who shared their experiences,” Jeffries said.
