A statement said he spent his final moments surrounded by loved ones and described his daughters as “the center of his world”.
Dane married actress Rebecca Gayheart in 2004. She filed for divorce in 2018 but later withdrew the petition.
In a recent interview, Gerhart said they have been separated for years but still support each other like a family.
When it comes to coping with Dane’s condition, she said she tries to show her daughters that “no matter what happens, we’re here for people… and we’re going to do the best we can to get through this.”
Dane also said he was “grateful to have my loving family by my side” during his diagnosis.
