One day after the election of the President of the United States Donald Trump After Attorney General Pam Bondi was removed from office, a photo showing her official portrait lying in a dumpster inside the Department of Justice (DOJ) went viral. The photo, first reported by MS NOW, shows Bundy’s framed portrait upside down in an empty trash can. The portrait was previously displayed on the wall alongside photos of Trump and Vice President Vance. The development came hours after Trump announced in a social media post that he had fired Bondi and appointed Deputy Attorney General Todd Branch to replace her. Bondi, a longtime Trump ally, has served as the country’s top law enforcement official since early 2025. In his statement, Trump praised Bondi and said she would “transition” into a role in the private sector. He added that her new position would be announced at a later date. Branch also defended her record, saying: “As President Trump said today, the attorney general has made our country safe again, she is a friend and has done a great job in the first year of this administration.”Bondi said she would “work tirelessly” to shift her responsibilities and described her tenure as the “honor” of a lifetime. She added that she would “continue to fight for President Trump and this administration” in her next role.Despite public praise, The Guardian reported that Trump was frustrated with Bondi’s handling of issues related to the case of pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Bundy had earlier pledged to release the notorious documents and said he would release a list of alleged clients linked to Epstein. The U.S. Department of Justice later said no such list existed.Millions of documents related to Epstein were eventually made public after pressure from lawmakers and Trump supporters and after Congress passed legislation requiring the release of unclassified records. However, a lot of content has been cut. Bundy faced criticism from both Democrats and Republicans. Bondi also faced scrutiny of his leadership during tense congressional hearings, with exchanges with lawmakers turning heated. At one point, she called a Democrat a “loser.”Her departure follows the recent firing of Kristi Noem as Homeland Security secretary, adding to a series of high-profile exits from the Trump administration.
