As the U.S.-Iran war continues on Saturday, FlightRadar 24’s map shows the airspace over Iran has been cleared. Dubai International Airport. Many flights were delayed. Authorities have not confirmed any details. According to Airports Council International, DXB is the second busiest airport in the world after Atlanta in the United States. On Saturday, UAE authorities “temporarily and partially” closed its airspace but began a “limited” operation two days later.
Airports in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait and Manama have all been targeted since the Iranian attack.
Some social media users posted videos claiming smoke was billowing from Dubai International Airport. However, authorities dismissed such reports.
“Dubai authorities have confirmed that a minor incident caused by falling debris following an interception has been successfully contained. No casualties have been reported. The authorities have also denied reports circulating on social media of any incident at Dubai International Airport,” it wrote on the X (formerly Twitter) platform.
In an emergency security advisory on Saturday, Dubai International Airport urged passengers to shelter in place. “Due to the current situation and potential missile threat, all passengers and airport staff are asked to immediately proceed to the nearest designated shelter area within the terminal. Please remain calm, follow the instructions of airport staff and stay away from windows and open areas until further notice,” the notice read.
Meanwhile, the conflict between the United States and Iran entered its second week on Saturday. President Donald Trump declared he would only accept “unconditional surrender” from Tehran, while Israel launched new attacks against Iran and Lebanon.
Trump’s comments on social media on Friday came hours after Iran’s president announced that unnamed countries had begun mediation efforts, briefly raising the possibility of a diplomatic solution, albeit a remote one, a week after the United States and Israel launched attacks on Iran.
“There will be no deal with Iran except unconditional surrender!” Trump wrote. “After that, and with a great and acceptable leader elected, we and our many wonderful and very courageous allies and partners will work tirelessly to bring Iran back from the brink of destruction and make it economically bigger, better, and stronger than ever before.”
