‘Dream job’: FOX wants to pay $50,000 to hire fans to watch every 2026 World Cup game | International Sports News

FOX One announces nationwide search for a fan to attend every 2026 World Cup game, with prize money of $50,000 per AI representative

Fans will receive $50,000 to attend every game of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Fox Sports announced Nationwide search for “Fox One Chief World Cup Observer hired through Indeed.” The temporary position, created in partnership with FOX One and Indeed, requires successful applicants to watch all 104 games of the expanded tournament during next summer’s World Cup in North America. Fans selected for the role will watch the game live in 4K via FOX One’s custom-made glass viewing space in New York City’s Times Square, ahead of the game itself kicking off in just over a month. The job will also include creating social media content throughout the tournament, with FOX hoping successful applicants will share reactions, commentary and watch party-style content while following each game on the tournament schedule.

Applications open until May 17

The role comes as fans are already preparing travel plans for the World Cup, although some fan groups have raised concerns over ticket pricing in recent months, particularly on resale platforms, as the cost of high-demand matches has increased significantly. Fox Sports president of marketing Robert Gottlieb described the position as part of the broadcaster’s broader championship plans. “This FIFA World Cup will be a historic event and requires equally historic hires,” Gottlieb said in a release. “A dedicated applicant will receive the job of a lifetime, experiencing and celebrating every story, every country and every exciting moment that defines the beautiful game.” Applicants have been instructed to update or create an Indeed profile by May 17, including any relevant experience or skills that could support their application for the role. FOX and Indeed are also encouraging fans to upload clips to social media using the hashtag #ChiefWorldCupWatcher explaining why they should be selected.

Work starts before the game starts

Hirers for the position will officially begin work on June 6, a week before the World Cup begins, and Fox plans to publicly reveal the successful applicants during its broadcast of the New York Yankees’ game against the Boston Red Sox. The role will last until July 26, a week after the World Cup final. Fox confirmed that the viewing setup will serve as a personalized office and viewing area placed directly in Times Square, allowing successful fans to watch each game throughout the tournament while interacting with supporters online.
