Dominick ponders cause of death: What happened to Colorado Buffaloes QB? Accident details

Colorado Buffaloes backup quarterback Dominic Ponder has died at the age of 23, Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders confirmed in a social media post. According to local media reports, Ponder was involved in a single-vehicle accident that resulted in his death. colorado the report said.

It’s unclear when the accident occurred. Coach Prime posted this article on Monday night. No cause of death was mentioned by the Sanders or Pound families.

On3 and the Daily Mail reported that Ponder died in a car accident in Colorado, citing reports from Buffalo’s Scott Proctor. So far, the report details ACCIDENT Not sure.

As of now, there are no other details about Ponder die has been released. It was unclear if anyone else was in the car with Pond.

“God please comfort Bond’s family, friends and loved ones. Dom was one of my favorite people! He was loved, respected and a natural born leader. Let us pray for all who knew him and had the opportunity to be with him. Lord you got a good 1,” Sanders wrote on the X.

Who is Dominic Pound?

Ponder, a 23-year-old backup quarterback for the Colorado Buffaloes, is from Opa Locka. FloridaTransferred to Colorado State from Bethune-Cookman University and saw limited playing time in a few games as backup quarterback. Known for his 6-foot-5 frame and role, he adds depth to Buffalo’s quarterback room under coach Deion Sanders.

He grew up in Opa-locka and played high school football at Carroll City High School and Naples High School.

He only played one game for Buffalo in the 2025-26 season, back on November 2, 2025. In his brief appearance, he had an unsuccessful attempt that resulted in a sack and two rushes.
