Did ICE arrest an “American citizen” from the San Francisco airport after Trump sent one to fill in the TSA crisis?

The Department of Homeland Security has clarified who was arrested at San Francisco Airport and why after a video of a woman crying while being arrested by two ICE officers went viral.

After Donald Trump ordered ICE deployed at airports to help clear long lines, hundreds of TSA workers resigned over unpaid wages and panic began that these immigration agents would now violently arrest people at airports. A video showing a woman traveling with her children crying as ICE agents arrested her at the San Francisco airport went viral. The agents were not wearing any masks, and when other travelers asked the agents to show their badges, they did not comply and continued to force the woman. “I don’t know who you are,” a person in the background of the video says, demanding the agents show proof they came from ICE. “You could be the one who kidnapped her,” the woman said. But the agent didn’t respond. Some social media users claimed that the woman, a U.S. citizen traveling with her young daughter, was unable to prove her citizenship to the satisfaction of agents and was violently detained by ICE. But the incident occurred on Sunday, and ICE agents were dispatched to handle the TSA crisis on Monday. Airport authorities also said the incident was not related to the new ICE deployment but was an immigration arrest. Airport spokesman Doug Yacker said the violent arrests were not related to Trump’s directive.“We understand that federal officers were transporting two people on an outbound flight when the incident occurred,” he wrote in an email to The New Republic. “We believe this to be an isolated incident and have no reason to suspect that SFO will take broader enforcement action… We were not involved in this incident and were not notified in advance. There are no disruptions to airport operations and no impact on flights or passenger processing.Utah Sen. Nate Blouin wrote on idiot. “

Homeland Security says illegal aliens have been issued deportation orders

The Department of Homeland Security also confirmed that the incident occurred before ICE was deployed in connection with the TSA crisis and that no U.S. citizens were arrested. “The arrest of illegal aliens occurred yesterday, March 22, 2026, when ICE officers were deployed to the airport to support TSA efforts. ICE officers arrested Angelina Lopez-Jimenez and Wendy Godinez-Lopez at San Francisco International Airport. Since 2019, an immigration judge has issued final deportation orders to these illegal aliens. While being escorted to the international terminal for processing, Lopez-Jimenez attempted to escape and resisted law enforcement officers. ICE is working as quickly as possible to return the family to their home country of Guatemala,” the Department of Homeland Security said in a statement.
