‘Deliberate act’: Man rams vehicle into Northeast Philadelphia police station, injuring 5; shocking video emerges

Netizens reacted to the gruesome video. “I really hope he’s not found mentally ill and lets him serve his sentence,” one user commented. “I’m sure if he were black or an illegal immigrant he would have gotten a court appearance ticket,” one user wrote, while another wrote, “Philadelphia is run by idiots. The police department should have concrete and steel bollards to prevent this from happening.”

“Philadelphia police. Woke hearts and DEI. Idiots,” one user said, while another commented, “They are going to release him without bail.” One wrote: “I wonder if this idiot regrets doing this.”

‘Definitely an intentional act’

According to Police Chief Kevin Bethel, police initially responded to a disturbance involving a man and his father around 11:45 a.m. Officers dealt with the situation and resumed patrol.

Moments later, however, the same man was traveling southbound on Custer Avenue and crashed the vehicle into the Second Ward station concourse. Five people who were waiting for service in the lobby were injured. They were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, Bethel said.

After the accident, the driver got out of the car and was rescued detained. Bethel said the incident was an “intentional act.” “This was clearly an absolutely intentional act,” Bethel said at a news conference.

According to witnesses, the driver initially tried to flee the scene, but was intercepted and arrested.

Castor Avenue in the area remains closed while the investigation is ongoing, ABC 6 reported.
