New Delhi: The Delhi government on Thursday opened 25 Atal canteens in the national capital as part of its initiative to provide affordable and nutritious meals to the city’s poor, laborers and other poor residents. Open a canteen like this Krishna NagarDelhi Chief Minister Gupta said that the guiding principle of Atal Canteen Project is that Delhi residents should not go to bed hungry. Union minister and local MP Harsh Malhotra, Delhi Urban Development Minister Ashish Sood and BJP MP Anil Goyal were also present at the event. The Chief Minister commended the Delhi Urban Housing Improvement Board (DUSIB) officials for executing the project within a short time and said the initiative was in line with the ideals of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former Prime Ministers Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The CM added that each canteen provides about 1,000 meals a day, benefiting more than 100,000 people in the city every day.The government has allocated Rs 104 crore for the operation and management of the scheme, which will be launched on December 25, 2025 – the birth anniversary of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
