‘Dancehall and FISA…’: Trump accused of exploiting WHCD shooting to push his agenda, MAGA rebels shocked

President Donald Trump is facing some serious accusations from his former allies following the incident White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooting. And his “Truth Society” posts don’t help at all. On Sunday, former Georgia congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene claimed that the 79-year-old was using the incident to further his personal agenda.

“WHCD’s excuse for shooting”

Green said Trump is using the WHCD shooting and the war with Iran to advance controversial surveillance powers. She further blasted the president’s push to renew Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), a divisive national security program that is set to expire on April 30.

Cole Tomas Allen reportedly tried to target Trump administration officials on Saturday night but was stopped by the Secret Service at the Washington Hilton. Hours later, the 51-year-old issued the warning.

“The President is using the war on Iran and last night’s WHCD shooting as an excuse to waive your rights in order for Congress to pass a clear extension of FISA 702,” Greene wrote on the X (formerly Twitter) platform.

Section 702 allows U.S. intelligence agencies to collect the communications of foreign nationals abroad without a warrant, but communications of Americans may also be collected incidentally.

Greene argued that Trump’s current support for clean extensions without warrant protections contradicts his past anger over surveillance abuses related to the Russia investigation.

“It is ridiculous and preposterous that any president sworn to uphold the Constitution would tell Americans to give up your rights so the government can spy on you, especially a government that has already done this not just to him but to hundreds of thousands of Americans,” she continued.

Trump himself recently pushed for a FISA update on Truth Social. “While portions of FISA were unlawfully and unfortunately used against me during the Democrats’ disgraceful witch hunt and attacks on Russia, Russia, and the Russia Hoax, and perhaps will be used against me in the future, I am willing to risk giving up my rights and privileges as a citizen of our great military and country!” he wrote earlier this month.

“Our military patriots desperately need FISA 702, which is one of the reasons we have had so much success on the battlefield.”

Greene, however, questioned why the White House did not support a revised version of the search warrant request for Americans.

“The question you should be asking is why is this so difficult for them and why would the President of the United States demand a complete reauthorization of FISA 702 without a warrant requirement???”

Banquet hall project

Meanwhile, several commentators on social media noted that Trump and the White House immediately pushed for the suspended ballroom project just hours after the shooting.

“What happened last night is exactly what our great military, the Secret Service, law enforcement, and every President over the last 150 years have been asking for, for different reasons, to build a large, safe, secure ballroom on the grounds of the White House. This event would never have happened if the White House were currently building a top-secret military ballroom. It couldn’t be built fast enough! While beautiful, it has all the highest level security features, plus, there are no rooms on the top floor for unsafe people to pour in, and is located within the gates of the most secure building in the world, the White House. Ridiculous banquet hall lawsuit filed by a woman walking her dog, she has absolutely no standing to file such a lawsuit and anything that interferes with its construction must be dropped immediately, the project is on budget and way ahead of schedule!” he posted.
