Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) said Rep. Corey Mills (R-Fla.) Should be the next member to leave Congress following Rep. Eric’s resignation Swalwell (D-Calif.) and Texas Republican Tony Gonzales each resigned amid serious allegations of sexual assault and misconduct.
In a post on X, the New York Democrat expressed her approval of the two men’s departures and quickly turned her attention to the controversial figure Mills.
“I’m glad Eric Swalwell is leaving,” she wrote. “I’m glad Tony Gonzalez is leaving. Frankly, I think Corey Mills should be on this list, too.”
On Tuesday, the Speaker of the House of Representatives Mike JohnsonThe Republican from Louisiana told reporters he would review the House investigation.
Meanwhile, Mills told NewsNation: “I’m not even in the Swalwell or Gonzalez category. One, I’m not married, so there’s that one thing. Two, I’ve never had a sexual harassment or complaint against any staff member or intern on the Hill. That’s not even a fair comparison. It’s obviously a tit-for-tat in Democratic politics, so I’m not even going to accept it, but so far I haven’t heard anything like that myself.”
“Well, there were a lot of things that were alleged, and there were accusations against me. I mean, look, at one point in time, they tried to bring domestic violence charges, even though no one actually claimed that there was domestic violence. I was never arrested, never participated in any proceedings, it was essentially just a bad breakup. It’s interesting to see how you can be guilty by accusation rather than how the rule of law really works.”
