New Delhi: Federal Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia BSNL Board Director (CFA) Vivek Banzal’s planned visit to Prayagraj, which has come under scrutiny for its detailed itinerary and extensive arrangements involving nearly 50 officials, has come under strong criticism.Scindia condemned Banzal’s directive as a “violation of laid down rules” and said a show-cause notice had been issued in the case.“I have made it clear that this is inappropriate and against established rules and traditions. This is unacceptable to me. It is shocking. A show-cause notice has been issued to the director with a seven-day period to respond. Appropriate action will be taken,” ANI quoted Scindia as saying. The two-day visit, scheduled for February 25 and 26, was canceled after the itinerary went viral on social media. Officials were assigned about 20 tasks to manage various aspects of the trip, including transportation, accommodation and Banzal’s personal arrangements. The office order detailed a strictly planned schedule that included bathing in the Sangam, boat tours and visits to Bade Hanuman Mandir, Akshayavat and Patalpuri temples. The “Snan” kits include towels, underwear, slippers, comb, mirror, soap, shampoo and oil – a total of six men’s kits and two women’s kits. A sheet is also provided for general use of the ghat. Arrangements at the hotel and circuit include dried fruits, fruit bowls, towels, toiletries and shaving kits.A senior BSNL official in Prayagraj told PTI on condition of anonymity that the incident appeared to be an “attempt to tarnish (our) image” and declined to comment further.BSNL India said in a post BSNL employees are expected to strictly adhere to the rules of conduct and instructions prescribed in this regard. “
