The 65-year-old congressman has been married since 1980. Edwards reportedly had a long-term affair with his former deputy chief of staff. Edwards released a statement during the investigation, NOTUS reported. “Given the professionalism displayed by my staff and my commitment to serving the people of Western North Carolina, I welcome any investigation. Given the current political climate our nation faces, it is not surprising that others with their own political agendas would attempt to raise false accusations to generate news coverage,” he said.

Back on Valentine’s Day 2022, Edwards posted an extremely sweet post on Instagram for his wife.

He shared a throwback photo of the two and wrote, “Valentine’s Day means different things to different people. For me, this is another opportunity to say thank you to my amazing wife of 40 years. Happy Valentine’s Day, Teresa Edwards. Thank you for sharing life’s ‘adventures’ with me. I remember our first Valentine’s Day vividly. It included flowers, candy, a ’69 Ford Fairlane, a hospital security guard, a clothes rack, four police cars with sirens blaring, and me almost getting arrested.”

He added: “As we stand on the steps of this church in Mills River, North Carolina (and I’m so stylishly dressed), who could have imagined that our lives could be so blessed?”

It is worth noting that Teresa also makes tough decisions at critical moments. This year, she banned a protester from all six McDonald’s restaurants owned by Congressman Edwards because he led a protest with a marching band inside one of the restaurants. “This letter is to inform you that you are prohibited from accessing all properties owned and operated by the C. Edwards Group. If you are spotted in person or on video surveillance of the premises… law enforcement will be notified immediately and you will be charged with trespassing,” Teresa reportedly wrote.
