Yudhisthira is the eldest son of the Pandavas in the Indian epic “Mahabharata” and lives an almost sinless life. After the battle, at an advanced age, he and his brothers set out for heaven. Along the way, except for the eldest brother and a dog that accompanied him, everyone escaped from the shackles of mortals. At Swaga’s gate, Indra, the king of gods, told him that he could enter, but he must leave behind his wandering companions. Yudhisthira, also known as Dharmaputra, refused to abandon his canine companion. It turned out to be a test. This dog is Yama, who tests Yudhishthira’s moral resolve. The story of the dog is interesting because it recalls the only time in the life of the great Pandava prince that he was found to be morally deficient. It was on the battlefield, when he unintentionally told Dronacharya a white lie: “Ashwatthama hata iti…narova kunjarova.” (Ashwatthama hata iti…narova kunjarova.” (Ashwatthama died…whether a human or an elephant, I don’t know.) The smallest lie changed the course of the battle, and when Dronacharya laid down his arms, Drishta Dimna, Drupad’s son and Draupadi’s brother, killed the warrior teacher. Like Yudhisthira’s white lie, the story of the seven dogs coming home – a video that went viral on the internet – is only partially true. The video is not artificial intelligence; it is not fake, but the narrative is.At the time of writing, the original video has been viewed millions of times. For those living under a rock, this video shows a pack of misfit dogs – a golden retriever, an injured German shepherd and a tiny corgi walking in front.According to CNN, the original clip is real. There are indeed seven dogs wandering along a highway in northeastern Jilin province. But they didn’t “go home.”What you see on the internet is a story. What the camera captures is behavior. The dogs didn’t get away with anything. They weren’t walking towards anything. They belong to nearby villagers. This German Shepherd is in heat, which is why other dogs gather to follow. In the village, dogs roam. They go with the flow. They are back. There is no script in it.This is exactly the reason for writing this article.Once a video leaves its original context, it enters a different economy. Not facts, but feelings. The Corgi who is slightly ahead becomes the leader. The dog looks back and becomes caring. Clusters become loyalties. Meaning is not derived. It is assigned.Once allocated, it spreads. The first headline doesn’t have to be completely wrong. It just needs to be evocative. From there, the internet does the rest. Someone adds details. Others added motivation. Soon there was a beginning, a middle and an end. The dogs are out of danger. They are protecting each other. They are on their way home. The video hasn’t changed, but the story has. This is how misinformation spreads these days. It’s not a complete lie. It accumulates as the preferred explanation. Each retelling removes ambiguity, enhances intent, and removes common parts that feel inconvenient. When the story settles down, it no longer feels like an embellishment. It feels like a memory. Then came the second wave. Artificial intelligence poster. trailer. An imaginary reunion. The internet doesn’t just tell stories. It starts producing it. A few seconds of footage transform into a universe that never existed. At that point, correction becomes irrelevant. The truth does not compete with the lie, but is a better-sounding version of the lie.Perhaps this is irony, as Yudhishthira understood it: a statement may be true but still be misleading. Truth is not just found in words. Beauty lies in the eye of the observer, and in our age of ultra-fast information, truth depends on the availability of enlightenment to the observer.
