They noted that Converse Avenue is closed between Dell Range Boulevard and Storey Boulevard. The statement further read: “Please avoid the area while crews work to contain the fire. Updates will be provided as they become available.”

They also shared a photo showing a building under construction engulfed in flames.

There was no immediate clarification from authorities on when Converse Avenue would reopen. The cause of the fire is also unclear. There is no word yet on whether anyone was injured in the fire.

The fire is believed to have started at an apartment under construction behind the Dell Range Walmart just after 3 p.m. Several people shared photos and videos of the fires still raging in Cheyenne.

Cheyenne fire: Photos and videos emerge

Local news channels shared several photos from the fire scene, where crews could be seen battling the blaze.

A video was also shared in which the sound of vehicle sirens honking near the fire could be heard. At the same time, a thick column of smoke could be seen rising into the air.

On X, one person who shared a video of the Cheyenne fire claimed the fire may have been caused by an explosion. However, there is no official confirmation of this yet.

“A new apartment complex still under construction in Cheyenne, Wyoming could explode, causing a massive fire. Strong winds in Wyoming are creating very dangerous conditions near the popular Dale Mountain Parkway,” they wrote, sharing photos and videos.

Someone else shared a photo where only smoke could be seen from a distance. “My kids sent me this photo of me checking out the fires near Cheyenne Converse and Carlson. Very sad situation,” the person shared.

Someone else shared a set of visuals of fires and traffic that may have been caused by firefighting efforts.

“Fires in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Luckily they are new apartments under construction. Hope the workers are okay,” they wrote.
