New Delhi: Pakistan’s early exit from the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup has thrust the team into another period of uncertainty. Led by captain Salman Ali Agha, the team had a disappointing performance, suffering heavy defeats at the hands of arch-rivals India and England. There are reports that players could face hefty fines and the captain’s position could be under threat due to the team’s poor performance, while discussions about possible changes to the coaching staff have already begun.

In the aftermath of the incident, a report from Geo Super claimed that tensions rose in the dressing room during the game, with some players unhappy with the way head coach Mike Hesson was managing the team. Reports claim that some players raised their concerns directly with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials while the match was still going on.“During the match, several Pakistani players were said to have individually complained to PCB officials about the coach’s conduct,” the report said. The report quoted sources as saying that Hesson’s strict style and the way he made decisions without discussing them with the players caused discomfort in the team environment. “Inside sources say his rigid approach and decisions taken without consultation have unsettled the dressing room. It is further alleged that key issues are decided without consultation with the captain and that Hyson frequently interferes in various aspects of team management.”PCB officials are now reviewing what happened during the match and examining Hesson’s conduct before deciding on next steps. “His conduct within the squad is currently being reviewed by senior officials and the tour report is expected to be examined before detailed discussions with the coach,” the report said. The report also suggests that both the selection panel and captain Salman Ali Agha felt unable to challenge Hesson’s authority during the World Cup.The report continues, “Sources say neither the selection panel nor captain Salman Ali Agha can challenge Hesson’s authority, with the coach reportedly having complete control over team affairs.”However, despite the controversy, Hesson may still keep his job as he recently signed a long-term contract. “It is understood that Hesson has signed a two-year contract with the PCB and the board remains committed to maintaining stability in the head coaching role,” the report concluded.
