Celeste Rivas case: d4vd’s parents break silence after arrest, deny wrongdoing, ‘he’s innocent’

“Let us be clear: The actual evidence in this case will show that David Burke did not murder Celeste Rivas Hernandez, nor did he cause her death,” his attorney said. “No indictment was returned by any grand jury … and no criminal charges were filed,” they added, noting that he was only being held on suspicion.

Authorities are expected to decide soon whether to file charges, with ABC7 reporting that the Los Angeles County District Attorney could take action as early as Monday, April 20.

Arrested at home in Hollywood Hills

The arrest occurred at a property in the Hollywood Hills that reportedly once belonged to Sandra Bullock. The New York Post reported that the $3.5 million home was in disarray and the kitchen was a mess, but it was unclear how long d4vd had lived there.

The California Post quoted neighbors as saying they had no idea the singer lived at the residence.

Separately, an air text message seen during Coachella was initially linked to the case and read “Celeste is a liar,” but was later debunked.

Complex reports that the news has nothing to do with d4vd, while Desert Sun suggests it could be part of a promotion for the Netflix project.

The case appears to be approaching a critical stage as prosecutors are expected to determine next steps soon. Depending on the outcome of the investigation, it’s still possible that no charges will be filed.
