The accident occurred on May 7 on Bureau of Land Management (BLM) property near Ridgecrest. According to the Bureau of Land and Natural Resources, authorities received reports around 12:15 p.m. local time of a commercial aircraft crash in the area of the Ridgecrest field office that killed two people and caused a vegetation fire.
Emergency crews including Bureau of Land and Natural Resources rangers, search and rescue teams and partner agencies responded to the scene as the fire quickly spread through rugged terrain near the El Paso Mountains Wilderness Area.
Officials are still investigating the cause of the crash.

The fire, later named the Canyon Fire, was fueled by inaccessible conditions and dry desert scrub. CAL FIRE said the fire first broke out near Highways 14 and 178 and grew from about 100 acres to nearly 800 acres in a matter of minutes. By evening, the wildfire had grown to more than 2,000 acres, and authorities later estimated the burned area to be more than 2,200 acres.

“After Ramsay’s passing, Nadine is now the sole caregiver for her children,” organizers wrote, adding that donations would help cover daily expenses and provide stability for the family.
A second fundraiser launched by Temo’s fiancée describes the grief of losing two brothers in the same car crash.
“This loss is even more heartbreaking as Temo passed away in a plane crash alongside his beloved brother Ramsay,” the fundraiser reads.
Temo’s fiancée said she is seeking assistance with travel expenses so she can travel to California to “say a final goodbye” and reunite with her grieving family. She added that the remaining funds will be used to pay for funeral expenses as loved ones mourn the sudden deaths of the two brothers.
