“Bodol noy, bodla chai”: Didi flips 2011 election slogan

KOLKATA: A day ahead of the first round of voting in Bengal’s two-phase assembly elections, Mamata Banerjee On Wednesday, she issued a slogan of “bodol noy, bodla chai (revenge, not change)”, reversing her old slogan of 2011 “bodla noy, bodla chai (change, not revenge)” when she dismantled the state’s decades-old left front bastion in a historic victory.Addressing rallies at Amdanga in North 24 Parganas and Haripal in Hooghly, she said, “In 2011, I said ‘bodla noy, bodla chai’ – change, not revenge. This time I say ‘bodol noy, bodla chai’ – revenge, not change. Revenge for the ballot box, revenge for democracy. We will not allow Bengal to be set on fire like Lanka.”attack bjp On the record deployment of central forces, she said: “Have you heard of a poll where they brought so many troops from Delhi to fight? You brought armored vehicles, held meetings with the army, deployed BSF, CRPF, railway and aviation forces from various states. Why? Do you want to open fire? Bring your armored car; I’ll be alone. ““Do you need troops for polls in Bengal? Send them to Manipur – there has been no peace there for three years,” she said.Banerjee also warned serving army officers not to follow the orders of the BJP. “You have forgotten that in the coming days, you will have to work in Bengal. IPS and WBPS officers have their own dignity. Stay neutral. Why are you targeting only the Trinamool? Why can’t a BJP candidate like Rakesh Singh be arrested for committing a crime?” she said, claiming that the central forces were “chanting BJP Zindabad”.Addressing a rally on Wednesday, Trinamool national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee said the BJP should get a response that would make it “think 100 times before betraying Bengal again”.Later, former Bengal Attorney General and Trinamool MP Rajeev Kumar, who was part of the delegation that met CEO Manoj Agarwal, said: “More than 500 people have been arrested based on verbal orders from police observers. Every police officer who issues or abets illegal arrest warrants will be named, charged and dragged to court. National borders provide no protection and no political immunity,” Kumar added.
